Letter about Suspending In-person services

Update from Holy Cross on COVID-19
July 15, 2020

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear though the earth gives way, though the mountains be moved into the heart of the sea, though it’s waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble at its swelling.”
Psalm 46:1-3

Martin Luther paraphrased the Psalm 46 in his beautiful hymn, A Mighty Fortress is our God.

In these times of ever changing news and mandates, we cling to these words, trusting that God is indeed our refuge and strength. We have nothing to fear.

All indoor, in-person services are suspended until further notice.
On Monday, July 13, Governor Newsom issued a new mandate for certain counties, including Placer County. These counties were directed to close many businesses and venues, including indoor services for places of worship. Once the restrictions are lifted, our plan will be to resume in-person services.

Beginning this week, we will again be recording the service to be posted on our website by Sunday morning. For the Seventh Sunday after Pentecost July 19, we will not be live so you may watch anytime on Sunday to participate. The service on Facebook will premiere at 8am and the service will also be posted on YouTube at https://www.youtube.com/user/HolyCrossRocklin

We will continue to send out emails with directions about how to access the bulletin and an overview of the service on Saturday mornings.

Mercy Groups and Pastoral Care
Each of you should be in a mercy group. (If you are not in a mercy group, please contact Deaconess Pamela at [email protected] or by calling (916) 259-1792). We will be using these groups as part of the ongoing care of the Body of Christ.

Pastoral care is still available. Please contact Deaconess Pamela at (916) 249-1792 or [email protected], until July 22. Pastor Peperkorn will return from his vacation on Wednesday, July 22, 2020. In addition, you may contact any of the elders for assistance.

In Christ,
Rick Fielitz
