SATURDAY (September 5, 2020)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Gospel Sentence
“Your words were found, and I ate them, and your words became to me a joy and the delight of my heart, for I am called by your name, O LORD, God of hosts.” (Jeremiah 15:16)
Reading
“Then Jesus told his disciples, “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.” (Matthew 16:24–25)
Meditation
Following Jesus means not following your sins to hell. For that is where they lead, only down the dark path of death. By giving up on our sins and following Him, we actually go from death to life eternal. Apart from Him, the path leads only to death.
Silence
Prayer for Holy Cross Member
O Lord, in Holy Baptism you put your Name upon Pammie. Bless her now with the forgiveness of sins and a firm trust in you. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Prayer of the Week (from Sunday)
Almighty God, Your Son willingly endured the agony and shame of the cross for our redemption. Grant us courage to take up our cross daily and follow Him wherever He leads; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
