HCAP for September 20, 2020

SUNDAY (September 20, 2020)
Sixteenth Sunday after Pentecost
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” (Psalm 27:1)

Reading
“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9)

Meditation
God’s plans and reasonings are beyond our comprehension. There is no way we, with our limited and finite minds, can understand the infinite mind of God. Seeking to understand all things about God is futile. However, just because we cannot understand the ways of the Lord, we can trust in His Words and promises. God promises to never leave or forsake us. God promises to shower us with His mercy. God promises to forgive us and receive us back into His waiting and loving arms. Be at peace. God knows what we need and He provides it.

Silence

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Let your grace be upon Bill, O Lord, and teach him to hope in the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Week
Lord God, heavenly Father, since we cannot stand before You relying on anything we have done, help us trust in Your abiding grace and live according to Your Word; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Lord’s Prayer
