Holy Cross Day
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Gospel Sentence
“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy…” (Psalm 103:2-4)
Reading
“But Joseph said to them, “Do not fear, for am I in the place of God? As for you, you meant evil against me, but God meant it for good, to bring it about that many people should be kept alive, as they are today. So do not fear; I will provide for you and your little ones.” Thus he comforted them and spoke kindly to them.” (Genesis 50:19-21)
Meditation
Joseph was able to see God’s hand in his deliverance after His jealous brothers sold him into slavery. Throughout the many years of being separated from his family, God used Joseph to bring about His will and save His people. Joseph had forgiven his brothers for their jealousy which led to wrong doing. He does not stand in judgement of them that they should fear him. He continues to assure them of his forgiveness. God’s forgiveness is the same. When God forgives, it is as if the offense never occurred.

Heavenly Father, bless Curtis with faith in you and fervent love toward all those who cross his path this day. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Prayer for Holy Cross Day
Merciful God, Your Son, Jesus Christ, was lifted high upon the cross that He might bear the sins of the world and draw all people to Himself. Grant that we who glory in His death for our redemption may faithfully heed His call to bear the cross and follow Him, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
