HCAP for October 1, 2020

THURSDAY (October 1, 2020)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone, declares the Lord GOD; so turn, and live.”” (Ezekiel 18:32)

Reading
“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. Do all things without grumbling or disputing, that you may be blameless and innocent, children of God without blemish in the midst of a crooked and twisted generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world, holding fast to the word of life, so that in the day of Christ I may be proud that I did not run in vain or labor in vain.” (Philippians 2:12–16)

Meditation
Because of who Christ is and what He has done for us, St. Paul exhorts us to live out the reality of who we are. We are no longer beholden to getting our own way. We need not grumble and complain when someone has a different idea. (And, yes, St. Paul is speaking to the Church). We have been transformed in our Baptism and live out this transformation with one another in the Church so that we might be light in a world darkened by sin and death.

Silence

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Show your grace to Pat this day, as she goes about the callings you have given to her. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Week (from Sunday)
Almighty God, You exalted Your Son to the place of all honor and authority. Enlighten our minds by Your Holy Spirit that, confessing Jesus as Lord, we may be led into all truth; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
