SATURDAY (November 7, 2020)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.” (1 John 3:1)

Reading
““Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.” (Matthew 5:10–12)

Meditation
Jesus would certainly undergo persecution and evil talk. He was no stranger to the hostilities of this world. In fact He would be falsely accused and eventually crucified. But He submitted to this out of love for us. That great love is what strengthens us in time of trial and need, for we surely will be persecuted. The world is hostile to the Truth. But Jesus, Truth incarnate, promises to never leave or forsake us. We are not alone.

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
O Lord, in Holy Baptism you put your Name upon Cecelia. Bless her now with the forgiveness of sins and a firm trust in you. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Week
Merciful and gracious Lord, You cause Your Word to be proclaimed in every generation. Stir up our hearts and minds by Your Holy Spirit that we may receive this proclamation with humility and finally be exalted at the coming of Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
