HCAP for November 6, 2020

FRIDAY (November 6, 2020)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.” (1 John 3:1)

Reading
““Blessed are the meek, for they shall inherit the earth. “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied. “Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy. “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God. “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” (Matthew 5:4–9)

Meditation
It can be helpful to think of the Beatitudes in terms of Jesus. When was Jesus meek? When did He hunger and thirst for righteousness? When was He merciful? Pure in heart? A peacemaker? As we live out this life in Christ, He does not leave us on our own to figure things out. He guides us each step of the way, knowing what it is like to struggle in this world.

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Father, we lift up Patrick before you this day, asking that You would give him your mercy all the days of his life. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Week
Merciful and gracious Lord, You cause Your Word to be proclaimed in every generation. Stir up our hearts and minds by Your Holy Spirit that we may receive this proclamation with humility and finally be exalted at the coming of Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
