THURSDAY (November 5, 2020)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Gospel Sentence
“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are.” (1 John 3:1)
Reading
“Seeing the crowds, he went up on the mountain, and when he sat down, his disciples came to him. And he opened his mouth and taught them, saying: “Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted.” (Matthew 5:1–4)
Meditation
Jesus begins The Sermon on the Mount with an important word—Blessed. The Beatitudes, are just that—blessings—and Jesus declares nine blessings to His disciples. Blessings, not a to-do list, but blessings given by Christ as we are transformed by Him. For as we live out this life in Christ, we become like Him in every way.

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Show your grace to Paul this day, as he goes about the callings you have given to him. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Prayer of the Week
Merciful and gracious Lord, You cause Your Word to be proclaimed in every generation. Stir up our hearts and minds by Your Holy Spirit that we may receive this proclamation with humility and finally be exalted at the coming of Your Son, our Savior, Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
