HCAP for November 17, 2020

TUESDAY (November 17, 2020)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness.” (1 Thessalonians 5:5)

Reading
“Now concerning the times and the seasons, brothers, you have no need to have anything written to you. For you yourselves are fully aware that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. While people are saying, “There is peace and security,” then sudden destruction will come upon them as labor pains come upon a pregnant woman, and they will not escape. But you are not in darkness, brothers, for that day to surprise you like a thief. For you are all children of light, children of the day. We are not of the night or of the darkness.” (1 Thessalonians 5:1–5)

Meditation
Christ is our only peace and security. He is our light, and He lights the path before us so we need not live in darkness and fear. The last days will come, and those living in the darkness will be taken by surprise—they won’t be ready to stand before the throne of Christ. But we, dear brothers and sisters in Christ, will stand before the throne in awe, face to face with the One who gave His life to give us life eternal.

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Lord Jesus Christ, be with Jack this week. Give him your grace and teach him to learn more of your mercy with each passing day. Amen.

Prayer of the Week
Almighty and ever-living God, You have given exceedingly great and precious promises to those who trust in You. Dispel from us the works of darkness and grant us to live in the light of Your Son, Jesus Christ, that our faith may never be found wanting; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
