HCAP for May 9, 2020

SATURDAY (May 9, 2020)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“And they devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.” (Acts 2:42)

Reading
“Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.” (Psalms 23:4–6)

Meditation
Shepherd me, O God, beyond all my wants, beyond my fears from death into life.
Even when cliffs loom out of the mist, my step is steady because of my trust. Even when I go through the deepest valley, with the shadow of darkness and death, I will fear no evil or harm. For you are with me to give me strength, your crook, your staff at my side.
Shepherd me, O God, beyond all my wants, beyond my fears from death into life.
Even in the midst of my troubles, with the murmurs of those who disturb me, I know I can feast in your presence.
-Excerpts from Psalm 23: The Shepherd and The Host (J. Cotter)

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
O Lord, in Holy Baptism you put your Name upon Sharon. Bless her now with the forgiveness of sins and a firm trust in you. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Week (from Sunday)
Almighty God, merciful Father, since You have wakened from death the Shepherd of Your sheep, grant us Your Holy Spirit that when we hear the voice of our Shepherd we may know Him who calls us each by name and follow where He leads; through the same Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
