HCAP for May 28, 2020

THURSDAY (May 28, 2020)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“Holy Father, keep them in your name, which you have given me, that they may be one, even as we are one.” (John 17:11)

Reading
“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour. Resist him, firm in your faith, knowing that the same kinds of suffering are being experienced by your brotherhood throughout the world. And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. To him be the dominion forever and ever. Amen.” (1 Peter 5:6–11)

Meditation
The devil prowls about, but he is a lion with no teeth. The sting of death is sin, but Christ has overcome both sin and death for you. That is why we can cast our anxieties on Him. He will see us through the trials, whatever may come. The devil may make a lot of noise, but in the end he was tamed by the true lion, the Lion of the Tribe of Judah, Jesus Christ the Righteous one. Thanks be to God!

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Show your grace to Marian this day, as she goes about the callings you have given to her. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Week (from Sunday)
O King of glory, Lord of hosts, uplifted in triumph far above all heavens, leave us not without consolation but send us the Spirit of truth whom You promised from the Father; for You live and reign with Him and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
