HCAP for May 19, 2020

TUESDAY (May 19, 2020)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“Baptism…now saves you, not as a removal of dirt from the body but as an appeal to God for a good conscience, through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,” (1 Peter 3:21)

Reading
“Yet he is actually not far from each one of us, for “‘In him we live and move and have our being’; as even some of your own poets have said, “‘For we are indeed his offspring.’ Being then God’s offspring, we ought not to think that the divine being is like gold or silver or stone, an image formed by the art and imagination of man. The times of ignorance God overlooked, but now he commands all people everywhere to repent, because he has fixed a day on which he will judge the world in righteousness by a man whom he has appointed; and of this he has given assurance to all by raising him from the dead.”” (Acts 17:27–31)

Meditation
The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the foundation of faith. Not all accept it or rejoice in it, but it is the capstone and lynchpin of Christianity. If Jesus rose from the dead, then we have a hope for the future. If He did not rise from the dead, then we are still in our sins. Thanks be to God that He rose again for our salvation, and that what He gives to us is far better than silver or gold or anything that perishes. He gives us an indestructible life, born in His resurrection.
