HCAP for May 14, 2021

FRIDAY (May 14, 2021)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love.” (John 15:9)

Reading
“As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Abide in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will abide in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commandments and abide in his love. These things I have spoken to you, that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be full.” (John 15:9–11)

Meditation
Jesus is speaking the language of Love. God is the source of Love and The Father loves His Son. God also loves us—and this Love for us was so immense and incomprehensible that He sent His only beloved Son into our humanity to save us from ourselves. For on our own, we cannot truly love. On our own, we are self-centered and our love is conditional. Resting, abiding, receiving from the One who is Love, we have joy in its fullness, even in the midst of trials and sorrows.

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Father, we lift up Sophia before you this day, asking that You would give her your mercy all the days of her life. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Week (from Sunday)
O God, the giver of all that is good, by Your holy inspiration grant that we may think those things that are right and by Your merciful guiding accomplish them; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Lord’s Prayer
