HCAP for May 13, 2020

WEDNESDAY (May 13, 2020)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“Like newborn infants, long for the pure spiritual milk, that by it you may grow up into salvation—” (1 Peter 2:2)

“So the honor is for you who believe, but for those who do not believe, “The stone that the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,” and “A stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense.” They stumble because they disobey the word, as they were destined to do. But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for his own possession, that you may proclaim the excellencies of him who called you out of darkness into his marvelous light. Once you were not a people, but now you are God’s people; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy.” (1 Peter 2:7–10)

We are a royal priesthood. But what does that mean? It means that God, who is life and mercy, gives Himself to us, has made us kings and priests in His kingdom. It means that each one of us has a place at the Table, and that each one of us have a divine command to proclaim His mercy to the world. But with that command comes the promise that it is His Word, not ours. We are His kings and priests. This is not because we do so many great things. It is because He is so great and does so many wonderful things through us.

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Be with Renata this day, O Lord, and show her your great love throughout all the days of her life. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Week (from Sunday)
O God, You make the minds of Your faithful to be of one will. Grant that we may love what You have commanded and desire what You promise, that among the many changes of this world our hearts may be fixed where true joys are found; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
