MONDAY (March 8, 2021)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
“For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” (1 Corinthians 1:18–19)
““You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain. “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.” (Exodus 20:6–11)
To take God’s name in vain is to take it as empty. When our Lord was betrayed into the hands of sinners, when the soldiers said His name and He replied “I am He,” they fell back to the ground. The name of God holds power, and for sinners like you and me, it is a power for good.
Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Heavenly Father, bless Wyatt with faith in you and fervent love toward all those who cross his path this day. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Prayer of the Week (from Sunday)
O God, whose glory it is always to have mercy, be gracious to all who have gone astray from Your ways and bring them again with penitent hearts and steadfast faith to embrace and hold fast the unchangeable truth of Your Word; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
