THURSDAY (March 4, 2021)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
“For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly.” (Romans 5:5–6)
“And Jesus went on with his disciples to the villages of Caesarea Philippi. And on the way he asked his disciples, “Who do people say that I am?” And they told him, “John the Baptist; and others say, Elijah; and others, one of the prophets.” And he asked them, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered him, “You are the Christ.” And he strictly charged them to tell no one about him.” (Mark 8:27–30)
Even though Jesus’ disciples have been following him around for some time now, they are still unclear as to who He really is. Peter’s confession is the first mention of Jesus being “Christ”, God’s anointed One. The Messiah who was to come. The One all of Israel had been waiting for. Who do we say Jesus is? What do we tell others when we talk about Jesus?
Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Show your grace to Renata this day, as she goes about the callings you have given to her. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Prayer of the Week (from Sunday)
O God, You see that of ourselves we have no strength. By Your mighty power defend us from all adversities that may happen to the body and from all evil thoughts that may assault and hurt the soul; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
