“And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and affliction.” (Matthew 9:35)
Reading
“And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and affliction. When he saw the crowds he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, ’The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” Matthew 9:35-38)
Meditation
Jesus is compassion. He is mercy. He is moved not only to preach, teach and proclaim the good news, He is also moved to heal our diseases and afflictions. Yes, suffering and sickness still exist for we live in this world tainted by sin. But Jesus comes as our Good Shepherd, to gently lead us home to Himself. Our ultimate healing is our death which leads to life eternal.
