FRIDAY (June 19, 2020)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and affliction.” (Matthew 9:35)

Reading
“Therefore, just as sin came into the world through one man, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men because all sinned—for sin indeed was in the world before the law was given, but sin is not counted where there is no law. Yet death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over those whose sinning was not like the transgression of Adam, who was a type of the one who was to come. But the free gift is not like the trespass. For if many died through one man’s trespass, much more have the grace of God and the free gift by the grace of that one man Jesus Christ abounded for many.” (Romans 5:12-15)

Meditation
With the fall into sin, Adam brought us all into sin. The whole of creation was infected with the virus of sin, and we were stuck, waiting for the cure. Jesus comes to bring us healing and life by living the perfect life we could not. And then He takes all of our sin into Himself and bears it, even to the point of death. His death becomes our freedom. Christ is the antidote to sin and death. He is our Savior.
