Holy Cross at Prayer for July 9, 2020

THURSDAY (July 9, 2020)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

Reading
“All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him.” (Matthew 11:27)

Meditation
We see the Father, through the Son, by the Holy Spirt. Jesus, the creator comes to His creation to make all things new. Jesus, God, comes to His creation, in the most ordinary of ways—He takes on the humble form of man and becomes our servant and our brother. Jesus, true God and true man, points to the Father. In fact, Jesus is the way to the Father as St. John tells us, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Prayer of the Week (from Sunday)
Gracious God, our heavenly Father, Your mercy attends us all our days. Be our strength and support amid the wearisome changes of this world, and at life’s end grant us Your promised rest and the full joys of Your salvation; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
