HCAP for July 8, 2020

WEDNESDAY (July 8, 2020)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)

Reading
“At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will.” (Matthew 11:25–26)

Meditation
Such strange words Jesus speaks. But Jesus is no fool. His Words of salvation have fallen on deaf ears. Intellect, religious or social standing does not make one a believer. In fact, these are often the things that get in the way of believing. Trust reveals the greatness of the One who brings life. Trust, a gift from God, is what opens the hearer to hear the sweet words of the Gospel. Trust, another way of describing faith, is the way of humility and surrender.

Silence

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Be with Mavis this day, O Lord, and show her your great love throughout all the days of her life. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Week (from Sunday)
Gracious God, our heavenly Father, Your mercy attends us all our days. Be our strength and support amid the wearisome changes of this world, and at life’s end grant us Your promised rest and the full joys of Your salvation; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
