WEDNESDAY (July 22, 2020)
St. Mary Magdalene
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“The earth, O LORD, is full of your steadfast love; teach me your statutes!” (Psalms 119:64)

Reading
“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words. And he who searches hearts knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.” (Romans 8:26–27)

Meditation
The Holy Spirit—our advocate, our comforter, our interceder—has our backs. He knows we are weak and in need of help, and He comes to help us. He knows we often stand before God mute and unable to speak because of the pain and suffering we experience, and He comes to intercede for us with groanings too deep for words. “The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.” (I Corinthians 2:10). All this the Holy Spirit does out of divine love for us.

Silence

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Be with Elaine this day, O Lord, and show her your great love throughout all the days of her life. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer for the Feast of St. Mary Magdalene
Almighty God, Your Son, Jesus Christ, restored Mary Magdalene to health and called her to be the first witness of His resurrection. Heal us from all our infirmities, and call us to know You in the power of Your Son’s unending life; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
