Reading
“You visit the earth and water it; you greatly enrich it; the river of God is full of water; you provide their grain, for so you have prepared it. You water its furrows abundantly, settling its ridges, softening it with showers, and blessing its growth. You crown the year with your bounty; your wagon tracks overflow with abundance. The pastures of the wilderness overflow, the hills gird themselves with joy, the meadows clothe themselves with flocks, the valleys deck themselves with grain, they shout and sing together for joy.” (Psalm 65:9–13)
Meditation
Creator of the heavens and the earth, God continues to care for his creation. The Psalmist employs metaphor to describe the amazing ways in which God cares for us. God’s blessings and care cause “the hills to gird themselves with joy and the meadows to clothe themselves with flocks…and the pastures, hills, meadows and valleys shout and sing together for joy.” Such poetic language speaks of the mystery of God and feeds the soul with beauty.

Prayer of the Week (from Sunday)
Blessed Lord, since You have caused all Holy Scriptures to be written for our learning, grant that we may so hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them that we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
