WEDNESDAY (January 6, 2021)
The Epiphany of Our Lord
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
“And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.” (Luke 2:52)
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved. In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ as a plan for the fullness of time, to unite all things in him, things in heaven and things on earth.” (Ephesians 1:3–10)
True wisdom is found in Christ. In this world, as in the early Christian Church, philosophers abound. Self-proclaimed sages fill the bookshelves, airways, and internet trying to lure us with their seductive voices of false hope. Jesus is The Mystery, unveiled at just the right time. He is Truth, bringing forgiveness of sins and hope.
Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Be with Olivia this day, O Lord, and show her your great love throughout all the days of her life. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Prayer for The Epiphany of Our Lord
O God, by the leading of a star You made known Your only-begotten Son to the Gentiles. Lead us, who know You by faith, to enjoy in heaven the fullness of Your divine presence; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
