HCAP for January 30, 2021

SATURDAY (January 30, 2021)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“On God rests my salvation and my glory; my mighty rock, my refuge is God.” (Psalms 62:7)

Reading
“Trust in him at all times, O people; pour out your heart before him; God is a refuge for us. Those of low estate are but a breath; those of high estate are a delusion; in the balances they go up; they are together lighter than a breath. Put no trust in extortion; set no vain hopes on robbery; if riches increase, set not your heart on them. Once God has spoken; twice have I heard this: that power belongs to God, and that to you, O Lord, belongs steadfast love. For you will render to a man according to his work.” (Psalm 62:8–12)

Meditation
The things of this world—possessions, status, wealth—are fleeting and meaningless. They give no lasting comfort or security. But God is steadfast. He is our refuge. In Him alone we place our trust. God does not play favorites. His steadfast love is for all. He is the one to whom we can go, pouring out our hearts filled with anxieties, sorrows, desires and even gratitude. He is our refuge and sanctuary.

Almighty and everlasting God, mercifully look upon our infirmities and stretch forth the hand of Your majesty to heal and defend us; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
