SATURDAY (January 16, 2021)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”” (Mark 1:11)

Reading
“And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”” (Mark 1:10–11)

Meditation
Jesus opens the way for us sinners as he steps into the Jordan River. As He comes out of the baptismal waters, The Father declares Jesus as His Son and the Holy Spirit descends upon Him. Baptism claims us—it marks us as one redeemed by Christ. The Father’s voice comes and declares us beloved—we are now a part of the family. We are kin. The Holy Spirit descends upon us to create faith that is to be cared for and nurtured within the family of God, His Church.

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
O Lord, in Holy Baptism you put your Name upon Zebadiah. Bless him now with the forgiveness of sins and a firm trust in you. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Week (from Sunday)
Father in heaven, at the Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River You proclaimed Him Your beloved Son and anointed Him with the Holy Spirit. Make all who are baptized in His name faithful in their calling as Your children and inheritors with Him of everlasting life; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
