HCAP for January 15, 2021

FRIDAY (January 15, 2021)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”” (Mark 1:11)

Reading
“In those days Jesus came from Nazareth of Galilee and was baptized by John in the Jordan.” (Mark 1:9)

Meditation
Jesus, the Messiah, the long-awaited One who was to come, now stands in humility and poverty waiting to be baptized by John. Jesus does not need the forgiveness of sins. He does not need to be renewed, yet he submits to this baptism by John in order to stand among us sinners. He who knew no sin became sin for us in order that we might have life eternal through His name.

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Father, we lift up Suzanne before you this day, asking that You would give her your mercy all the days of her life. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Week (from Sunday)
Father in heaven, at the Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River You proclaimed Him Your beloved Son and anointed Him with the Holy Spirit. Make all who are baptized in His name faithful in their calling as Your children and inheritors with Him of everlasting life; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
