MONDAY (January 11, 2021)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”” (Mark 1:11)

Reading
“And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light. And God saw that the light was good. And God separated the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And there was evening and there was morning, the first day.” (Genesis 1:2–5)

Meditation
Images of light and dark come forth in creation and flow through scriptures. There is a rhythm to this light and dark—a creation of day and evening. A marking of time from the One who is outside time and space. We sing in Evening Prayer,

Jesus Christ is the light of the world. The light no darkness can overcome.
Stay with us, Lord, for it is evening, and the day is almost over.
Let Your light scatter the darkness and illumine Your Church.

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Heavenly Father, bless Susie with faith in you and fervent love toward all those who cross her path this day. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Week (from Sunday)
Father in heaven, at the Baptism of Jesus in the Jordan River You proclaimed Him Your beloved Son and anointed Him with the Holy Spirit. Make all who are baptized in His name faithful in their calling as Your children and inheritors with Him of everlasting life; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
