HCAP for February 12, 2021

FRIDAY (February 12, 2021)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“Have you not known? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He does not faint or grow weary; his understanding is unsearchable.” (Isaiah 40:28)

Reading
“Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one receives the prize? So run that you may obtain it. Every athlete exercises self-control in all things. They do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. So I do not run aimlessly; I do not box as one beating the air. But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified.” (1 Corinthians 9:24–27)

Meditation
The life of a Christian is often called a pilgrimage from font to Eucharist Table to the grave. On this journey, Christ gives us what we need. In Holy Baptism, He gives us new life. In the voice of our pastor, we hear Christ’s words of mercy and forgiveness. At the Table, we receive the medicine of immortality for soul and body, and join with angels and archangels and all the saints in heaven until we, too reach our final home.

Silence

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Father, we lift up Jackson before you this day, asking that You would give him your mercy all the days of his life. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Week (from Sunday)
O Lord, keep Your family the Church continually in the true faith that, relying on the hope of Your heavenly grace, we may ever be defended by Your mighty power; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.

Lord’s Prayer
