FRIDAY (August 28,2020)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
“He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:15-16)
I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect. For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. (Romans 12:1-5)
God’s mercies save us. His mercy through the life, death and resurrection of His Son Jesus, gives us new life. Christ renews, restores and redeems us. He gives us Himself, so that we do His work in the world. The world will try to pull us away from what we know to be good and true, but Christ continues to call us to Himself. He continues to transform us into His image.
Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Father, we lift up Betty before you this day, asking that You would give her your mercy all the days of her life. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
Prayer of the Week
Almighty God, whom to know is everlasting life, grant us to know Your Son, Jesus, to be the way, the truth, and the life that we may boldly confess Him to be the Christ and steadfastly walk in the way that leads to life eternal; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
