HCAP for August 26, 2020

WEDNESDAY (August 26, 2020)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?” Simon Peter replied, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” (Matthew 16:15-16)

Reading
“Though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies,
and your right hand delivers me. The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever.
Do not forsake the work of your hands.” (Psalm 138:7-8)

Meditation
The Psalmist is reminding God of who God has claimed to be—the One who endures forever. The One who preserves my life. The One who protects me from the evil one. God doesn’t need reminding of who He is, but often, we need to be reminded of His greatness and graciousness. God promises to always be with us to guide and protect us.

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Be with Jordan this day, O Lord, and show him your great love throughout all the days of his life. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Week
Almighty God, whom to know is everlasting life, grant us to know Your Son, Jesus, to be the way, the truth, and the life that we may boldly confess Him to be the Christ and steadfastly walk in the way that leads to life eternal; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
