SATURDAY (August 22, 2020)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“Thus says the LORD: “Keep justice, and do righteousness, for soon my salvation will come, and my righteousness be revealed.” (Isaiah 56:1)

Reading
“The earth has yielded its increase; God, our God, shall bless us. God shall bless us; let all the ends of the earth fear him!” (Psalms 67:6–7)

Meditation
Jesus is our salvation and our righteousness. He is the One in whom all was revealed for our sakes. Jesus, God in the flesh, came down to humanity—His creation—to be like us in every way except for sin. Jesus, the creator, enters into His creation, and empties Himself so that He might bring salvation and restoration. It is really incomprehensible—a mystery. We enter into this mystery in our baptism, putting on Christ and His righteousness. We enter into this mystery each time we feast on the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist. We live out this mystery as we go about the ordinariness of our daily lives.

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
O Lord, in Holy Baptism you put your Name upon Levi. Bless him now with the forgiveness of sins and a firm trust in you. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Week (from Sunday)
Almighty and everlasting Father, You give Your children many blessings even though we are undeserving. In every trial and temptation grant us steadfast confidence in Your loving-kindness and mercy; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
