HCAP for August 21, 2020

FRIDAY (August 21, 2020)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“Thus says the LORD: “Keep justice, and do righteousness, for soon my salvation will come, and my righteousness be revealed.” (Isaiah 56:1)

Reading
“Then Jesus answered her, “O woman, great is your faith! Be it done for you as you desire.” And her daughter was healed instantly.” (Matthew 15:28)

Meditation
Jesus marvels at the faith of this unclean, cast out, undesirable woman. Her desire for healing flows out of her recognition of who this Jesus is. She comes before Him with faith that He is who He says He is. She has announced it, “ Lord, Son of David”. He is the anointed One foretold of for ages. He is the holy One who brings healing in His wings. He is the righteous One who comes to redeem His people and gather them unto Himself. He is the One who brings hope and healing to hurting souls—to those who feel “less than”, “undesirable” and “unclean”. He is the One who reaches across all boundaries to meet us where we are, and to restore us.

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Father, we lift up Jill before you this day, asking that You would give her your mercy all the days of her life. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Week (from Sunday)
Almighty and everlasting Father, You give Your children many blessings even though we are undeserving. In every trial and temptation grant us steadfast confidence in Your loving-kindness and mercy; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
