HCAP for April 8, 2021

THURSDAY (April 8, 2021)
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him.” (Mark 16:6)

Reading
“…and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me. (1 Corinthians 15:5-8)

Meditation
After Jesus’ resurrection, He showed Himself first to the women who came to the tomb to prepare his body with burial spices. Then Jesus made several more appearances before His accession into heaven. Jesus appears in His glorified body with His wounds intact to showing us he shares in our sufferings. Jesus appears to show His disciples that all that He had taught them during His earthly life was true. Later, after His ascension into heaven, Jesus appears to Saul in a voice, confirming the power of His Word. By His Word, Saul is converted from a threat-breathing persecutor of Christians, to one who is the ultimate slave for Christ.

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Show your grace to Jeanne this day, as she goes about the callings you have given to her. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer of the Week (from Sunday)
Almighty God the Father, through Your only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ, You have overcome death and opened the gate of everlasting life to us. Grant that we, who celebrate with joy the day of our Lord’s resurrection, may be raised from the death of sin by Your life-giving Spirit; through Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
