HCAP for April 7, 2021

WEDNESDAY (April 7, 2021)
Easter Wednesday
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

Gospel Sentence
“And he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He has risen; he is not here. See the place where they laid him.” (Mark 16:6)

Reading
“Now I would remind you, brothers, of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, in which you stand, and by which you are being saved, if you hold fast to the word I preached to you—unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures,” (1 Corinthians 15:1-4)

Meditation
Paul reminds us of the truth of our saving faith. It is a gift from God, won for us by Jesus’ death and resurrection. The truth of Jesus is unchangeable. The world, and even some churches offer a “new and better way”, but lest we be deceived, St. Paul brings us back to the Gospel—the good news of our life in Christ, won for us on the cross and confirmed by His bursting from the tomb after three days. Christ gives us all we need.

Silence

Prayer for Holy Cross Member
Be with Rosalyn this day, O Lord, and show her your great love throughout all the days of her life. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Prayer for Easter Wednesday
Almighty God, by the glorious resurrection of Your Son, Jesus Christ, You destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light. Grant that we who have been raised with Him may abide in His presence and rejoice in the hope of eternal glory; through the same Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.
