Holy Cross at Prayer for Tuesday, April 28, 2020, let us pray.
In the name of the Father and of the + Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
GOSPEL SENTENCE
“And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, he interpreted to
them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.” (Luke 24:27)
READING
“And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to
each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of
your exile, knowing that you were ransomed from the futile ways
inherited from your forefathers, not with perishable things such as
silver or gold, but with the precious blood of Christ, like that of a lamb
without blemish or spot. He was foreknown before the foundation of
the world but was made manifest in the last times for the sake of you
who through him are believers in God, who raised him from the dead
and gave him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God. ” (1 Peter
1:17–21)
MEDITATION
To stand before God the Father on our own deeds or merits would
certainly be fear-inducing. For in and of ourselves, we have nothing to
offer God and our future would be grim indeed. But, Christ has
ransomed us from such a fear-filled life. He gave His life that we might
be given new life. He gave His very body and blood that we might be
spared. And so, we come to the Lord’s Supper to receive the body and
blood of the Lamb to strengthen us on our journey.

grace and teach him to learn more of your mercy with each passing

PRAYER OF THE WEEK (FROM SUNDAY)
O God, through the humiliation of Your Son You raised up the fallen
world. Grant to Your faithful people, rescued from the peril of
everlasting death, perpetual gladness and eternal joys; through Jesus
Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one
God, now and forever.
